Texas Fibroid Awareness

Black women are 4 times more likely to develop fibroids—and we’re less likely to be heard when we say we’re in pain.

Tia Mowry spent years battling fibroids in silence before finally getting diagnosed. When doctors told her to just get a hysterectomy, she said no—and started speaking up instead.

Her story is all too familiar. That’s why every July, we’re not just raising awareness. We’re taking action. We’re creating space. We’re choosing US.

In partnership with the Afrocentric Communiversity and Fibroid Institute Texas, BJLI creates free, healing-centered gatherings that focus on wellness, reproductive health, and the real-life impact of fibroids—especially on Black women. These forums aren’t just conversations—they’re community care in action.

Events are free and open to women looking for sisterhood, support, and solutions. Come ready to learn, share, and leave empowered.
